How Long Does Stamped Concrete Last?
Stamped concrete is installed similarly to regular concrete structures, at the end of the hardening process, a pattern or design is stamped into the surface. Many times color is added providing a variety of design outcomes to fit virtually any design preference.
Longevity of Stamped Concrete
Stamped decorative concrete can last as long as tradition concrete. The longevity of stamped concrete is on average, 25 years or more when properly installed and maintained.
Can Stamped Concrete Sealer Prolong the Life of Your Concrete?
The stamped concrete design and color can last longer then traditional concrete because of the sealer used to protect the decorative surface. When sealers are combined with traditional reinforcement installation practices, stamped concrete can last as long as traditional concrete pours. Stamped concrete may look chalky and faded when it needs to be resealed, but will be restored to its original luster and color when fresh sealant is applied, which should be done every three to four years.
Durability of Stamped Concrete
Stamped concrete has the same durability as traditional concrete. Some designs are more prone to cracking or damage due to the surface. For example, some design patterns may be a poor choice for a driveway or heavy traffic areas due to the design creating thin edges that are more prone to cracking. Consulting with one of our stamped concrete design specialist can select a stamp design that will work well with the surface area, estimated traffic over the area, and the exposure to the elements.
